Spatial.io Creator Toolkit: Spatial integrates Unity 🤯
Edition of 17.03.2023: Spatial integrates Unity, ERC-4437 and Rabbids on The Sandbox.
Spatial.io is a platform that allows anyone to create and explore immersive 3D worlds with their friends and community. With the new Spatial.io Creator Toolkit, powered by Unity, you can now create with the most popular game engine in the world (used by the biggest video game studios) and publish directly to the web, mobile and VR in seconds.
Why is this important?
This opens up new possibilities for creating more immersive and realistic metaverse experiences for brands and creators.
This allows you to use Unity’s features and powerful tools to create 3D content, such as a database of pre-made 3D assets, lighting, sound, scripts and more. The integration with Unity also allows you to create interactions with objects and environment of your experiences to make them more gamified.
Here are some examples of experiences that are now possible with the new Toolkit:
-
A multiplayer VR escape room where players can collaborate and communicate with each other using Spatial’s voice chat and avatar system.
-
A 3D art gallery where artists can showcase their work using Unity’s asset library, new lighting system and interactions.
-
A VR music festival where artists can stream their live shows using Spatial’s audio system and audience interaction tools.

🔩The technical news of the week
ERC-4337: A new update for Ethereum featuring “smart accounts”, a crucial change for web3 user experience.
ERC-4337 is a new update for Ethereum that enables “smart accounts”, also called account abstraction (referring to abstracting complexity).
Smart accounts are actually smart contracts that can act as normal accounts, meaning they can send and receive transactions, hold ETH and tokens, and interact with other contracts.
However, unlike normal accounts, smart accounts can also have custom logic and rules for signing and executing transactions.
Why is this important?
Because it allows users to have more control and flexibility over their transactions.
For example, smart accounts can enable:
-
Batched transactions: send multiple transactions with one signature
-
Sponsored transactions: allow someone else to pay our gas fees
-
Multi-signature wallets: require multiple signatures or approvals for transactions
-
Recovery mechanisms: recover access to funds in case of lost private keys or compromised devices
-
Pre-approved transactions: allow the user to approve x transactions in advance. Particularly useful for building subscription offers.
-
Privacy features: hide transaction details or use zero knowledge proofs.
Here are some examples of new applications that will leverage this update to improve user experience in web3:
-
Argent: a non-custodial wallet that offers meta-transactions, social recovery, daily limits and more
-
Gnosis Safe: a multi-signature wallet that supports batched transactions, modules and integrations
-
PayMyGaz: a solution that allows users to get their transaction fees paid by brands in exchange for data.
